What is the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge?
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m) in under 12 hours. Groups usually finish the route between 9-14 hours, with the Intelligent Servers team completing the circular route in an impressive 10 hours and 55 minutes.
The team set off from Harrogate at 5am to get the walk started by 7am and make the most of the September sunlight. The team had completed a number of practice walks throughout the summer to train for the main event.
Hayley who completed the challenge said, “We knew the walk would be tough, but we could never have prepared for how tough it really was! By the time we were going up the last peak, everyone was aching all over. Four days later and we’re all still hobbling around the office.”
“It is great to know we’ve raised so much money for such a great cause. I would like to do it again next year to see if we can beat our time whilst raising more money for charity.”
Yorkshire Air Ambulance
Yorkshire Air Ambulance is an independent charity providing a lifesaving rapid response emergency service to 5 million people across the whole of Yorkshire. To keep both of their Air Ambulances maintained and in the air, they need to raise £12,000 every single day, which is the equivalent of £4.4m a year.
A spokesperson from Yorkshire Air Ambulance said, “A huge well done and thank you to the team from Intelligent Servers for completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks at the weekend and raising an amazing £1225 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Your support makes a massive difference and helps to ensure that we can keep flying and saving lives.”.
